Orakei School – Who we are

Welcome to Orakei School and our school website. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make.

Orakei is a forward thinking school providing a 21^st century Learning Environment for our students. As a year 1 to 8 school, we cater for both Primary and Intermediate age students who go on to High School when they complete their education at Orakei. The culture of our school is identified by its caring and respectful nature that is evident between children and adults alike (Education Review Office 2010).

The vision for our school is simple. Our children are the very heart of Orakei School. It will be a place where they can obtain the highest quality education and where they develop a love of learning that will last their whole lives. Students will be part of a learning community that encourages questioning and reflection, where change and mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities on the way to achieving great things. It will be a place where staff and students will be encouraged to be curious about their world, supported in their dreams and challenged to exceed their own expectations. It will be a place where we feel safe and can celebrate who we are, where we come from and our nation’s heritage. And it will be a place where families know that the wellbeing/hauroa of their children will be valued and where parents will play an active role in supporting all our children’s learning. It will be the school of choice for the Orakei Community.
